Oh what a day!

Oh what a day yesterday was! I almost had a bad start to it all too. It almost never happened. I wanted to crawl back into bed and hide. Let's just say the universe with alot of little yet irritating things pressed my patience. So after wrestling with all that, I forcibly left the house without a plan. That's the best way sometimes. I went to the city, San Francisco and visited the Warhol exhibit. Which was incredibly significant for me. And along with a little more insanity of living I ended up in the middle of a Gay Rights Marriage rally/march.

Anyhow, back to Andy...

"If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There's nothing behind it."
-Andy Warhol.

Warhol Live - this exhibit moved me profoundly. I think I'm love in with Andy Warhol. Why yes another gay man. I'm collecting them. There's a shocker. Honey please, the gays openly love me back! On the real though, it didn't help that I'd been doing my homework on this one. That knowledge I'd been gathering only intensified my experience. For the first time since I'd laid eyes on a Rodin in person, I'd felt so strongly connected to another artists work. Granted I haven't been to the Louvre.

Warhol was truly ahead of his time. The exhibit mixed Music and Art, (which of course it's another reason I'm gushing), and Warhol's personal mementos of Hollywood. You saw his record collection and his personal hollywood memorabilia right alongside his artwork of records and hollywood icons in addition to so much more; Yes! They included the film work and the screen tests. Granted I love artists but it's quite the occasion when I can identify so strongly with one as a person. Warhol captured so many aspects of culture in his work and persona that it's hard to imagine that someone else was this incredibly vivid and truly passionate. My favorite quirks are his love of JUDY, love of repetition (ANDY chain listened to music!), and his love of music/dance/theater. Definitely a grand exhibit, everyone should go and see it. If you can't now, it all lives at the Warhol museum, someday GO and Visit that one. I know I will.

The Gay Marriage Rally. Well, on the way to one of my favorite music haunts and trying to get pizza I ended up amid this chaos. How? You can't cross a police line, especially when you support a cause like this. Of course, I support Gay Marriage. Are you kidding?? It was nuts. Am I on the news? I don't think so. If so look for the lost but not so lonely little gal with the gay marriage stickers standing between two butch lesbians. Awesome ladies. People kept sticking me with things. What can you do? Smile and say thank you. hehe.

WONDERFUL DAY!

My excursion into Warhol has left me feeling whole again... It's hard to explain, but I don't identify with people at large. It's really grand when I find someone that captures this unique isolation and is able to succeed despite it. It's why I love Bjork. There's only one of her. And with Andy... there's only one there too. And I love that there's only one of me. Alright lesson of the day: Be yourselves, honeys. Ain't no one gonna love you unless you do first. kisses, m.
