Community Service Architecture: The South Mountain Library

Barbie loves that great architecture need not be restricted to your dream home. In fact barbie loves when great architecture is used to support the public in places that matter. Beginning a new series of focus on architectural design, Barbie has decided to focus this week on Community Service design!

The South Mountain Community Library

“Designed by Richärd+Bauer this new 51,600 square foot facility combines the functions of a modern public library with the components of a state of the art central campus library. The library includes a 200 seat multifunctional meeting room, conference and multimedia center, high tech classrooms, computer center, quiet and interaction rooms, as well as all the components of both public and academic libraries. A children’s library and storytime room are organized below the academic story telling institution with vertical connection to the exterior courtyard dedicated to the children’s use.” - Archdaily.com

What kind of places does your community service take place in?  Are they like this?

Barbie hopes they're fabulous!
Enjoy!
Kisses, m.
