Style Icon: Edward Hopper's Nighthawks.

Photobucket
Edward Hopper - Nighthawks, 1942. Oil on Canvas.

Nighthawks (1942) is a painting by Edward Hopper that portrays people sitting in a downtown diner late at night. Nighthawks may be Hopper's take on the term 'night owl' used to describe someone who stays up late. The scene was inspired by a diner (since demolished) in Greenwich Village, Hopper's home neighborhood in Manhattan.

This Love - Craig Armstrong f/ Elizabeth Fraser

This Love. Beautiful Song. The singer is Elizabeth Fraser. She is this amazing singer from this little group that I adore - Cocteau Twins. So much about her vocals are breath-taking. I can not remember my life before her voice. The video reminds me of  this lovely painting, NIGHTHAWKS and very late nights spent out in the cold city thinking and watching people. It's been years since I've wandered around alone out in the city at night. Something about people watching afterhours is quite hypnotizing. Night. enjoy. kisses. m.
