Ugly Duckling.

The Ugly Duckling (1939) - Disney

So I had this old fairytale on my brain for days and days. I kept thinking about an animated version but I couldn't find it. I had no idea there was a Disney version either. Although it lacks a realistic perception I prefer this one over the other. It's less sad.

The Ugly Duckling. It's a very interesting story. For me it isn't really about ugliness or a lack of beauty at all. Besides I thought the little guy was cute. If I was his mama I would have loved the little guy no matter what anyone said. Digressed... This story is about being a misfit or an outcast. I find myself relating to that notion growing up and sometimes even as an adult. I wouldn't ever consider myself a loner, but I move about without a proper niche in the world. It's not a bad thing. I can promise you that much. I can say that this has shaped the type of people I surround myself with. Those friends I have come to know and absolutely love throughout my life are without a doubt amazing. Why? We accept each other for all the things we're not and give each other unconditional friendship without judgement. Of course there is the obvious truth that some of these wonderful people are not in my life anymore. Life can take them away. Some journeys are shorter than others. And in some cases others have moved onto better things, with the occasional drop in to say hello. Of course. This journey takes people in and out of our life along the way and it's just the natural order to things and like things we mustn't hold on so tightly. kisses. m.
