Time Travel With Andy Warhol: Eyes Closed

Took the Time Machine to see Andy Warhol last night...

Andy was working on new pieces and quite introspective. Upon seeing me, he just stood still and waited to speak.

“Which version of you am I getting, Moni? You look... Your eyes look like they’ve seen more. But it’s not love in them.”

“No, it isn’t love.” I shrug and admire his unfinished pieces.

“Moni, it’s because you leave your eyes open and people should fall in love with their eyes closed. Close your eyes!”

“Now?” I posture as I’m taken aback with his demand.

“Why not? Let’s practice. I’ll go first.” Andy announces and proceeds to close his eyes.

“Do you have champagne?” I ask leaving one eye open to scan the room.

Ignoring my query he asks, “Moni, are your eyes closed?”

“No.”

“Close your eyes.”

Tree-ness House by Akihisa Hirata

Barbie loves to be in nature, because nature is the most authentic of places to be. Here’s a dream house that captures the essence of a tree.

Tree-ness House by Akihisa Hirata

The concept of the design is inspired by the shape of a tree; a central trunk supporting other pieces like the branches and leaves led the architect to create the Tree-Ness house.

The structure is comprised of concrete volumes that are stacked to form spaces that become terraces or spaces into which windows and planters are slotted.

Would you be like a tree in this house?
