The Gamble House

Oh dolls, everything in life is a gamble! Everything has its risks even decisions but you must make them and... Even not choosing to decide is a risk!

Hmm?

Barbie simply loves architecture and interior design and most of the time her favorite Ken gets a kick out of watching her freak out over ornamentation, furniture & dreamhouses. But little does Ken or most people know... Barbie always wanted to live in a Craftsman style home. Really? Yes. It's not modern, you can't find them in the metro areas of cities and they aren't overtly large. Definitely no vaulted ceilings here!

Widely popular at the peak of the American Arts & Crafts movement, the Craftsman home was essentially a bungalow styled home. What makes the Craftsman Homes unique is their woodwork and traditional Japanese influenced design structure. Natural and subdued colors, absence of clutter and a strong connection with the outdoors are all elements from Traditional Japanese Architecture that are incorporated in Craftsman Architecture.

“The early projects of Greene and Greene reflected the traditional tastes of their clients, but in time they achieved recognition for developing the  bungalow to a high art, as well as for creating houses with the quality of fine furniture. The Gamble House represented an American-style which sat amidst an abundance of imitations and interpretations of classical European buildings, the influence for many mansions at the time. It was designed to be very suitable for the southern  climate, with a sleeping porch and beautiful transition spaces from the inside to outdoor patios, a garden and a pond.

Would you take a Gamble & decide to live in this Dreamhouse?

Barbie would!

Enjoy!
