Fallingwater House

Barbie loves Dream Houses that seem to defy convention while remaining quite stylish and functional. Often it may seem that style should be granted at the compromise of the natural surroundings of the house. Without a doubt she can find no need to compromise when it comes to the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Fallingwater

The House astounds by being placed within and on the edge of a 30’ waterfall. The home gently fits among the natural elements while remaining functional. Considered to be one of FLW's greatest accomplishments, Fallingwater exudes remarkable imaginative architecture and enhances the surrounding landscape.

Don Erickson's House of The Rising Sun

My Barbie Dream House of the day is The House of the Rising Sun. It's a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home that was created by Architect Don Erickson. From the moment you enter this open floor plan home you are instantly amazed. The entryway greets it's visitors with Copper Inlay doors and leads onward to a spectacular four bedroom home. It's perks include a Floating hall, Indoor Pool, Workout Room, Atrium in addition to it's gorgeous outdoor views. There's nothing like living in luxury as you welcome in the sun each day.

The Heart Shaped Island House

Barbie enjoys Island living whenever she's extending herself in the role of Tropical Barbie. But would Barbie make an Island her permanent residence?

The Heart Shaped Island & the mysterious Frank Lloyd Wright House.

The Massaro House is located on Petre Island in Lake Mahopac, New York. It's mystery lies in the fact that it is a home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright but not built by him. An earlier unrealized project the construction came posthumously between 2003-2007 by Joseph Massaro. For this very reason Lloyd Wright purists have refuted it as a true FLW creation. The foundation refers to the home, that surpasses Fallingwater in style, as inspired by FLW instead of crediting the finished structure to the master architect.

The Petre Island/Massaro house is a true tribute to the Frank Lloyd Wright legacy. The home includes a cantilevered deck that extends 28ft over the lake surface and a 60ft wide rock titled Whale rock wedged inside the home doubling as a kitchen / bathroom wall and an interior wall.

Would you call an island home? Or would you build your own Frank Lloyd Wright house? Barbie might!

Enjoy!

Style Icon: Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright. One of the 20th century's most significant architects. I've always loved his work even long before I wanted to design. I've collected books on his architecture for years. For me its an expression rather than a structure. His work holds so much beauty no matter how you see it. It's been a long time fantasy of mine to actually be able to see and explore one of the homes. Someday! Two of my favorites are the Ennis House and Falling Water. Ennis House is always in movies or music videos. People mostly recognize Falling Water since it is a very unique structure that rests upon a waterfall. Wright's mission was to preserve the environment around the structures and allow them to inhabit the same space without desecrating the beauty of the existing landscape. It's a powerful message. I think that's one of the reason why I've always loved his work.
