Fair and Fairytales.

“I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a man who had no feet.” -- Author unknown

Fair. What is fair in this life? Is life fair? There are a lot of people who think it’s not. As a matter of fact, I haven’t met too many people who think that it is. Well the truth is… it isn’t always fair. The hand we’re dealt varies from person to person. Things happen to one person and they may never happen to another. But you can’t choose where you end up sometimes. It happens and that is the way it is. For you have to understand the world isn’t balanced because we all have the same amount. It’s on fair ground because there is enough on both ends of the spectrum to keep it balanced. While where you land may not be up to you, you can make the best of it and press forward. Is the world is affecting you again? Or are you affecting your world? Try looking again. Life is what you make of it. It’s always up to you.

Fairytales. With modern times comes the blatant disregard for all things romanticized. People find it hard to accept the frivolousness of life. In some aspects you have to remain fully grounded but when it comes to losing oneself why do people hold back? There is nothing wrong with a bit of ridiculous in between it all. Even in matters of the heart. Often people ask me about fantasy and fairytale romances. I always tell them “it’s up to you.” I also tell them that nothing comes without work. You have to give love to get love. That is the key to life… give and take. While there may not be picture perfect celluloid happy endings in this world, there are great real life fairytales within it. Unlike the films of the last century they do come with hardships and struggles. I happened to hear my third real life fairytale in two months today. It happens that people do find a way to love each other when the world challenges them. And it isn’t perfect. There are tragedies involved, sometimes time spent apart and a great deal of heartache but somehow it manages to come together in the end. No. I can hear the voices of dissention and I agree that this isn’t always the case. Remember, not all fairytales have happy endings. Is it fair? What do you think? It’s what you make of it.
